Update: Chobani Bite is no longer made by the company. While this is unfortunate, Chobani does now have Chobani Simply 100, which is a 100 calorie yogurt with no artificial sweeteners.
Chobani Bite Raspberry with Dark Chocolate Chips is my favorite Chobani Greek yogurt product. A serving size is only 3.5 ounces, which is much smaller than a typical single-serve container at 5.3 ounces. I find myself scraping the spoon on the bottom of the container because I never quite feel satisfy. While these are sold in four packs, I have never consumed a pair back-to-back, but I have been tempted.
I suppose the point of a “Bite” is to offer a snack size serving at only 100 calories so you are supposed to be content with 3.5 ounces. When reviewing the nutrition facts, you will notice that the numbers are pretty respectable given chocolate chips is one of the main ingredients. Surprisingly, the product has 8 grams of protein and only 1.5 grams of fat, which is a bonus.
How about the taste? The raspberry Greek yogurt is thick and creamy as you would expect from a Greek yogurt. I held it upside down straight out of the refrigerator with the lid off and the yogurt did not spill out. It does lose some thickness as it sits at room temperature; therefore, it is best to eat right away. The raspberry Greek yogurt on its own is pretty standard stuff with a mild, sweet raspberry taste. If you gave me the raspberry yogurt on its own, I wouldn’t be impressed. However, the dark chocolate chips add a sweetness and slight bitterness that pairs well with the raspberry Greek yogurt.
The chips are more like chocolate shavings or slivers, but Chobani seems to have found the right balance of chips to yogurt. I didn’t feel cheated by a lack of chocolate nor did I feel overwhelmed by chunks of chocolate. It should be noted that if you are not a fan of dark chocolate, you probably are not going to start liking it with this product. While the dark chocolate is not that bitter and is somewhat masked by the raspberry Greek yogurt, you can still taste that noticeable dark chocolate flavor. Additionally, it is only made with natural ingredients so you don’t get that disgusting artificial aftertaste found in other Greek yogurt products.
Chobani Bite Raspberry with Dark Chocolate Chips is almost a dessert-like Greek yogurt, but it only has 100 calories. The serving size is small, but is sufficient for a light snack or for a quick sweet tooth fix. They are normally about $2.79 per four pack at my store so they are not exactly cheap, but I have found them on sale for under $2.00 from time to time. Overall, I would recommend these but I think you would most likely have to be a person who likes dark chocolate (with exception) to enjoy these. I would not routinely pay $2.79 for these (meaning they are not a must have), but I would definitely pick them up if they were on sale. Rating 3.25 out of 4 stars.
