Question: How long does it take for JELL-O to set?
Answer: It takes about four hours for JELL-O to fully set in the refrigerator. If your refrigerator is colder than average, it will take less time. However, you want to avoid storing the JELL-O in too low of temperatures to avoid freeze it.
There is a speedier method to making JELL-O that takes 90 minutes or less for it to set. Kraft, the makers of JELL-O, recommend the following if you don’t have 4 hours to allow it to set:
- Dissolve gelatin mix in 3/4 cup boiling water.
- Add ice to 1/2 cup cold water to make 1-1/4 cups. Stir into gelatin until slightly thickened. Remove the unmelted ice.
- Refrigerate 30 minutes for soft set or 60-90 minutes for a firmer set.
