Living in the Midwest, my skin gets really dry during the winter. After the winter we’ve had this year, I was in desperate need of some moisture for my skin. I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Greek yogurt face masks and, since I already know how beneficial Greek yogurt is, I thought I would try my hand at concocting a Greek yogurt mask with my specific dry skin needs in mind.
I started out with two tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt contains lactic acid, a remedy against fine lines and wrinkles, as well as protein, which firms skin, also making it resistant to wrinkles. I added a tablespoon of cooked oatmeal because it is contains polysaccharides and healthy fats that lubricate the skin, as well as extra protein. The texture of oatmeal also acts as an exfoliator, which removes dry, flaky skin. Finally, I mixed in a teaspoon of honey because it softens skin by drawing moisture to it .
To apply the oatmeal, honey, and yogurt mask, I simply scooped it up with my fingers and massaged it into my face in circular motions until my whole face was covered with a thick layer of it. I waited about 20 minutes- until the yogurt dried- and rinsed it off with a washcloth and warm water. My face felt really clean afterwards, and was super soft. The next day, my skin still felt soft and smooth.
Making this Greek yogurt face mask was so easy and inexpensive. I love that it is all natural and, most importantly, that it worked! I am definitely planning on working this mask into my regular beauty routine- I hope that you do too!
