Does Mayonnaise Have Eggs?

Question: Does Mayonnaise Have Eggs?

Answer: To answer this question we took a look at a selection of popular mayonnaise brands to see if their ingredients contained eggs. As you can see below, mayonnaise does have eggs in every brand. Eggs are a common ingredient found in the majority of mayonnaise.

Hellmann’s Original – soybean oil, water, whole eggs and egg yolks, vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, calcium disodium edta, natural flavors.

Duke’s Mayonnaise– Soybean oil, eggs, water, distilled and cider vinegar, salt, oleoresin paprika, natural flavors, calcium disodium edta.

Kraft Mayo–  soybean oil, water, eggs, egg yolks, vinegar, contains less than 2% of sugar, salt, lemon juice concentrate, calcium disodium edta, dried garlic, dried onions, spice, natural flavor.

Heinz Mayonnaise – soybean oil, white distilled vinegar, egg yolks, whole eggs, water, sugar, salt, lemon juice (water, lemon juice concentrate), calcium disodium edta.

Note that there are some eggless mayonnaise-like products available that have started to become popular. For example, Hellmann’s recently released ‘Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread’. This product’s ingredients are soybean oil, water, sugar distilled vinegar, salt, modified food starch, lemon juice concentrate, natural flavor, and calcium disodium edta. No eggs. We cannot attest to the flavor since we haven’t had a chance to taste it. However,  it provides an option for those seeking an alternative to egg-based mayonnaise products.
