Neapolitan is one of the most popular and recognizable flavors of ice cream ever made. It consists of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.
The idea for this ice cream is believed to have stemmed from spumoni ice cream, which originate in Italy during the 1800s. Spumoni is traditionally made with individual layers of chocolate, pistachio, and cherry ice creams.
Nobody is certain the exact time when Neapolitan ice cream was first invented. However, at least a version of it was being made in Paris sometime during the early 1800s.
