Are There Eggs In Bagels?
Below you will find a sampling of popular bagel products sold at stores and restaurants. Nearly all contain no egg ingredients.
Interestingly, even Lender’s Egg Bagels contain no eggs. The label states they are artificially flavored. Udi’s were the only bagels with eggs based on the products sampled below.
The most common food allergens in bagels are wheat, sesame, and soy. Be sure to read the actual product label for the most accurate information on ingredients and allergens. Rely only on the actual product label to make your buying decisions if food allergens are a concern for you.
Keep in mind that some bagels do not official have eggs as added ingredients but they may contain trace amounts of them. This can happen when cross-contamination occurs from eggs being used in other foods that inadvertently get into the bagels through the equipment used or other sources.
