We checked the inventory at 20+ Walmart stores across the United States to see what they had to offer in regard to Great Value ice cream. While inventory can vary from store to store, below are the ice cream flavors that you can generally find at most Walmart stores.

Keep in mind that the flavors of Great Value ice cream were more extensive not so long ago. According to Brand Eating, in 2017 the brand offered flavors like Legend Cherry, Banana Puddin’, and Sour Pucker Punch with a total of 49 flavors.

The quantity of Great Value ice cream flavors appears to have been greatly reduced since 2017 as you can see below. The pandemic or other factors may have played into the decision to reduce the flavors. However, Great Value still makes plenty of flavors where just about anyone can find one to enjoy!

How Much is Great Value Ice Cream?

This ice cream will vary a bit in price depending on which Walmart store you visit. However, the standard 48 fluid ounce size generally ranges from about $2.60-$2.80 in price. The smaller 16 fluid once (1 pint) size is sold for around $1.65. The brand certainly still offers value even in this era of increasing food prices.

Who Makes Great Value Ice Cream?

Great Value has been made by Wells Dairy based out of Le Mars, Iowa for over 30 years. In addition to Great Value, Wells makes other familiar ice cream brands such as Blue Bunny, Halo Top, Blue Ribbon, and The Original Bomb Pop.

The company has been in business for over 100 years and was recently acquired by the giant Italian sweets manufacturer, Ferrero. You likely know Ferrero from its brands like Nutella, Tic Tac, and Kinder. In fact, Tic Tac was the first product that Ferrero sold in the United States starting in 1969.

According to Industrial Equipment News (IEN), Wells will remain a stand-alone business despite the acquisition. The company is expected to continue its production operations in its three facilities in Le Mars, Iowa; Henderson, Nevada; and Dunkirk, New York.

Great Value was launched as a brand of Walmart stores in 1993. The brand produces numerous products outside of ice cream including eggs, bread, soup, cookies, soda, toilet paper, and much more.

Products are sold exclusively at Walmart stores and are known to be high-quality alternatives to the name brands. It is considered the top private-label brand in the United States based on household penetration being purchased by about 73% of U.S. consumers (source).
